Privacy policy
Last updated: August 2026
This policy explains how we handle personal information in connection with this website. We design the site to minimise data collection: there are no user accounts and no requirement to provide personal details to read content.
Who we are
The publisher is Farming Domains (ABN 66 786 225 704), an Australian independent publisher. Content is edited by Ian Piggott. More detail: About this guide. Contact for privacy matters: use the contact page (email reveal).
Information we may collect
- Server and security logs — typical hosting logs such as IP address, browser user agent, request path, referrer and timestamps, used for security, abuse prevention and reliability. Retention depends on the hosting provider.
- Messages you send us — if you email via the contact page, we receive the content of your message and any personal details you include (for example name and return address). We use this to respond and, where relevant, to fix site issues. We do not sell contact lists.
- Analytics — if Google Analytics (or a similar tool) is enabled, aggregate and device-related usage data may be collected to understand traffic patterns. Configuration will favour privacy-reasonable settings where available.
- Advertising technology — if Google AdSense or similar networks are enabled, partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve, measure and (where permitted) personalise ads. See advertising disclosure.
- Map embeds — Google Maps iframes may cause Google to receive technical data (for example IP address and page referrer) under Google’s policies when a map loads. Official EDQ PDF maps hosted on this site are served from our host; downloading them is a normal file request in server logs.
How we use information
We use information to:
- operate, secure and improve the website;
- respond to enquiries;
- measure content performance (if analytics are on);
- display advertising (if ad networks are on);
- meet legal obligations where required.
We do not sell personal information.
Legal basis / Australian context
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles as they apply to our operations. If you believe we hold personal information about you and wish to request access or correction, contact us via the contact page. We may need to verify your request.
Third parties
Third parties process data under their own policies when you use their services through this site, including (as applicable):
- hosting / CDN providers;
- Google (Maps embeds, Analytics, AdSense — see Google’s privacy and advertising resources);
- official sites you choose to visit (EDQ, Redland City Council, Translink, BOM, and others).
Cookies and your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser, use tracking protection, or limit personalised advertising via industry tools where available (for example Google’s ad settings). Essential security and hosting logs may still be collected. Blocking third-party content may disable maps or ads.
Children
This site is general public information and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children.
Storage and security
Email and hosting systems use standard commercial safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Do not send sensitive identity documents or passwords through the general contact channel.
Changes
We may update this policy by publishing a revised version on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
